IVF Treatment Costs
How much does IVF cost?
The following fees are associated with fertility treatment:
- Consultations with your fertility specialist (including initial and follow up)
- Any investigations or tests you may require (e.g. semen analysis or AMH testing)
- Fertility treatment and the medications involved
- Depending on your circumstances, advanced scientific techniques (e.g. access to the donor programme, or pre implantation genetic testing)
Many fertility treatments attract a rebate from Medicare. The Medicare Safety Net also provides additional rebates for people with large medical expenses. Once you reach the Medicare Safety Net threshold in a calendar year, Medicare will pay an additional rebate on selected items.
The tables below provide an estimate of your out of pocket costs for fertility treatment and associated services with IVFAustralia. Once your personalised treatment plan has been agreed between you and your specialist, our experienced patient support team will contact you within 48 hours to provide you with a detailed cost estimate so you are fully aware of the total fee and out of pocket costs for your fertility treatment.

- Specialist Day Hospital Admission
There is no Medicare rebate available for Specialist Day Hospital procedures, although some rebates do exist for anaesthetic services. Therefore, the amount for which you are covered for these admissions is dependent on your level of private health insurance cover.
If you don't have private health insurance, you can expect to pay around $2000 for Specialist Day Hospital care (payable on the day of admission) and an anaesthetist (billed separately). Our Specialist Day Hospital team will contact you in advance of your procedure to inform you of the fees involved.

If your treatment involves advanced scientific techniques you will incur additional fees which are detailed in the table below.

- Payment options
For patients who are eligible for Medicare, we offer a no upfront fee option.
In order to minimise the amount of time you are out of pocket, your fees will be deducted from your credit card the day prior to either your egg collection, insemination procedure or Frozen Embryo Transfer (dependent on which treatment you are undergoing). You can then expect your Medicare rebate back within seven working days.
If you are not eligible for Medicare rebates, payment will need to be made in full on the day you commence fertility treatment.
