Hi everyone,

Chuckie: Every cycle we had, I knew the embie/s that would be transfered from the beginning. The progression & grading would be the best, and definitely be sure the FS & lab techs know the strongest embies in the bunch. I will have eberything crossed for you that your embies are snuggling into there new home for the next 8-9 months and hope the next week or so flies by!

Mika: Looking forward to hearing how transfer went!

Loulou: So sorry to hear of your -tve, take care of yourself.

Meli: Great news (IYKWIM) on nothing showing up in the tests. Bring on AF and starting #6 - I feel good about this one for you!!

Andie: Goodluck for the 2ww.

Rainbow: I too get up during the night, usually twice, and an waking up to horrible heartburn. Then comes all day nausia - and this is all only at 5w6d!! Acupuncture seems to be my saviour, and today I couldn't help but go and have another BT - curiosity! HCG now up to 20,800 and prog 360. So now jsut count day the days to scan on wednesday. How many weeks are you?

Hi Ladies,

Mika, How did your tfr go today? I have been thinking of you today.

Melimoo I understand about the needles and wish you all the very best for cycle 6. I think you are incredibly courageous to be so positive after the previous 5. Hugs to you and positive thoughts.

Andie - How are you doing with the dreaded wait?

AFM - After the good news of Monday (10 eggs) things appear to have gone down hill a little or maybe my expectations were too high. 8 fertilised and two were implanted today (fingers crossed they stick). But I guess that when we decided to do implant on Day 2 (rather than day 5) I thought there would be more good quality chicklets to freeze and it appears that will not be the case. The remaining 6 are either developing too quickly or too slowly to be a suitable quality to freeze but I'll know for sure tomorrow.

So I am a little disappointed with today's news and concerned that those implanted are not good quality either.

Now that I have poured out my (very negative) heart, I need to get positive and see how we go. The next two weeks are the excruciating part, the needles, blood tests and even the surgeries are nothing compared to the uncertainty of the next two weeks. My BT is 19 May so positive thoughts from now on!

Take care all, I wish you all well and appreciate this forum to keep my sanity.

Loulou -- I am so sorry to hear about your loss.  It is heart breaking to know what you are going through right now.  I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we're here for you and thinking of you.  I'm sending a big hug to you right now.

Andie -- How are you doing?  good luck!

Chuckie -- Rest up and stay positive

Melimoo --- yes i too looked forward to the needles, hehe...we must be crazy!  I think it's exciting because it makes us feel like we are doing something!

AFM, transfer day is still set for tomorrow with all 6 of my little embies still pottering along.  It's going to be strange as my hubby can't be with me tomorrow so I'll be the lonely little chick sitting in the waiting room waiting excitedly with ants in my pants :-)  I feel calmer now but it might be in part to the fact that I know what's going to happen and I've been through the process.  I also had my cousin give me some massage to relax me....I'm a lucky girl!

take care everyone and hope you're all well.

Again, Loulou, big hugs to you!

Oh Loulou, that's dreadful news, we had all been hoping for a BFP for you. So sorry to hear that was not to be. Look after yourself.

Melimoo, good for you, positively diving into cycle 6.
I really can't complain, the nausea hasn't been too bad and even though I have now started waking up occasionally through the night to go to the bathroom (hello, what is that all about?!) we are so darn grateful to be expecting that I am happily accepting whatever side effects might come my way.
I used to get so very angry at people who would complain about any aspect when there are so many of us who would do anything to trade places, so no complaints from me!

Andie, good luck! Glad to hear your transfer went well this morning. Now the agonisingly long 2ww!

Chuckie, good luck for your transfer on Wednesday.
I'm well thanks. Slight nausea I had been feeling seems to have diminished and I've started dropping some meds and that seems to be going okay too.

Loulou, thinking of you & hope tomorrow brings good news!

Hi All,

4 of my eggs orginally fertilised and it went down to 3. These 3 embies are holding strong at the moment. I am having my ET tomorrow at 7.30am. Monday will be day 5. I am hopefuly this time, because last time I did the ET on day 2, at least this way I know the embies can survive till then. Aftter this will follow the 2WW.

Lozz: thanks, I hear what you are saying, qulaity is better than quanity and after all I only nn one good one.

Melimoo: I am currently on my 2nd cycle, this time round were are trying ICSI.

Will keep you posted.

Everybody else take care and keep smiling

Hi Everyone,

Lozz, so glad all is going well for you. Enjoy your scan on the 12th, it is quite exciting and makes it all seem real! Obs appointment went well, thanks. Met my new doc and think he is lovely, so that is very good. Ah not quite showing, though have lost definition in the abdominal area! I didn't exactly have super firm abs previously, but there was a nice little bit of definition, which has slowly started to disappear. This I am blaming on not going to the gym, rather than pregnancy! (have taken the 'take it easy' advice seriously, lol)
How many weeks are you now?

Chuckie, good luck for tomorrow's egg pick up. Yes, everyone is on some sort of drug I have never heard of!

Melimoo, glad you're back on the forum, we've missed you! Glad you had a great time at your friends wedding, and are refreshed. Good luck for all your testing results, and for cycle 6.

mika, 6 embies is great news. Good luck for transfer tomorrow.

Loulou, you are doing what I am also about to do.....sitting outside in the sun to read a book! Lovely way to spend a quiet Sunday afternoon. Very best of luck for Tuesday!

hello to everyone on this beautiful autumn morning.  Mika - great news you've got 6 embies going along, all the best for the transfer.  Meli - glad you've had a good break from it all, hopefully you're fully refreshed, I can imagine you're fully geared up for the next go!  Hope it all goes smoothly for you on Monday, Chuckie.   Hope all the BFP ladies are resting up too.

AFM - I am off for the BT on Tuesday.... good news is that no AF has arrived.  No symptoms except that I have been quite calm for several days and even nice to my boss, who I don't really like so that was a surprise!  Just going to take things easy today, and go read a book in the gorgeous sunshine...  Hoping you're all well...

Hi all -- hope your weekends went ok!

Melimoo has asked all the questions I had so I'll wait for the replies :-)

As for me.....collected 11 eggs but only 10 fertilised and as of yesterday there were only 6 growing.  I'm still waiting for "the call" this morning to find out if my 6 little bubbies are still growing and getting stronger...fingers crossed!  I found it a lot harder to recover this time so had a very quiet weekend.  I don't know if it's because they did both ovaries this time or because it's not the 1st time.  Anyway, feeling a bit more like myself today thankfully.

take care all xo

hi all,

Well where to begin (I apologise now if I stuff this up)!!! Feel free to correct me lol!

Chuckie - Good luck for ER on Monday

Andie - Where are you up to with your cycle? Have you transferred yet?

Lozz - Wow fantastic numbers! I am so happy for you and glad that everything is progressing along nicely.

Rainbow - Well you are certainly well on your way. Any symptoms yet???

Oh by the way - The wedding was fantastic last weekend. just what I needed. I have enjoyed having a break from IVf this month but I am so impatient and ready to get back into another cycle

Lou & Scubalou- Are you in the dreaded 2WW? If so when do you test?

Mika - How did ET go today?

AFM - I'm waiting for the FS to call me in the next couple of days with the results of my tests. I spoke to one of the nurse last week and they said that they thought everything looked fine so heres hoping. Hoping to start a new cycle next week. Here's to lucky number 6!!!!!!

Hope everyone else is well!

Hi Ladies,

I am not avoiding you all but it has been a busy week. My final scan was today and all is looking good, at least 8 follicles whiich is less than the last two cycles but my Gonal-f is less this time as well. So I  am hoping for quality not quantity this time. I agree with you all about the different drugs, you all seem to be on different ones to me. I am on Gonal-f and Orgalutran.

Andie, like you my egg collection is Monday so fingers crossed for both of us. My FS has decided to implant any embies after only two days this time and not wait for blasto. Mine seem to start out well but the quality drops around day 4 so we are hoping the natural environment will help. So lets see how we go with that. I look forward to hearing how you go.

Lozz, Rainbow, your BFP gives me faith. Well done, I am so happy for both of you.

Well it's still hard to believe that we are pregnant after so long, but with a follow-up bloods on Thursday it's now sinking in! HCG went up to 2980 and Progesterone stayed close to previous at 380. 1st scan is booked in with FS for 12th May.....yay!

Mika: I hope EPU has gone fantastically!!

The nurses were thinking of putting me on pregnyl or prog pessuaries to support the pregnancy but were really happy with my prog levels and didn't think it was necessary. Although I am still on Clexane and until I am told otherwise will stay on it - although I am quickly running out of unbruised spots!

Rainbow: wow 10wks!! How did your Obs appointment go? I booked in with one today, but will have to wait until 9 weeks. Are you starting to show yet?

Andie: Goodluck for Mondays transfer, have you had any daily updates yet? This cycle I had 6 collected and 4 were viable, so it's definitley quality over quantity!!

Nic: Goodluck with 1st Antagonist - they are always so quick. All the best!

Andie, great news, glad to hear you have a few nice looking eggs and best of luck for Monday's transfer.

Mika, thanks. No idea what's normal meds with IVF! From reading everyone's posts there seems to be a massive number of tablets, injections, nasal sprays etc.
I've been on Progynova tablets x 3 per day, as well as progesterone pessaries x 2 per day. Have just stopped taking the midday tablet as well as ceasing the morning pessary. Will slowly wean myself off both over the next 2 weeks.
Not sure if the post cancer treatment patients (like me) require a slightly different routine to the non-chemo girls or not? No 2 girls I've ever spoken to have been on the same routine!

Hope you have a lovely weekend...and recover from the early start :)

Hope you're feeling well.....and over the shock of a BFP after 9 cycles. Awesome news.

Lou, good luck, hope to read of your BFP in 2 weeks.

Andie, hope today's egg collection went well.

Mika, good luck for collection on Friday.

As for me, tomorrow is the 10 week mark & I will start to decrease medication etc. Am seeing a local obstetrician tomorrow, as I need to be under someone's care as I reduce meds. All seems to be going well.

Take care everyone.

Hi Mika,

I am doing the antagonist, with the bloods and scans are there more of them, then doing IUI? When you say you used elma cream to numb the skin, why do you use that? i was ok with the needles for the IUI, should i get some of this cream, if so where do i get it? I have also reached my medicare levy.. is the reaction to the hormanial injections worse then with iui, cause the doctor said i will be on a much stronger dose this time, so my hormones might be all over the place!!!After the implant can they tell early whether it has worked or not??

Good luck for Friday!! cross fingers

Hi there,

ICSI is normal IVF but they just take a single sperm and inject it into a single egg.  This improves the chances of the egg fertilising properly and growing so they can implant it back into you 3-5 days later.

Which cycle are they doing on you? the long down or the antagonist?  I've done both now.  They're both pretty similiar really.  The long down uses a nasal spray and an injection while the antagonist uses 2 injections.  They both require bloods & scans as you get close to the collection point and the collection is the same for both and the implantation back is the same.  I use emla cream to numb my skin before doing the injections so it doesn't hurt.  The scans are internal and can be uncomfortable but shouldn't really hurt.   I had a general for egg collection so didn't feel too bad after I woke up.

If you have frozen embies left after they implant one back then it's great but you don't always get some left over.  If they use a "frostie" (as some people call them :-) then it's cheaper then the full IVF with ICSI.  I've reached my medicare levi already so my 2nd cycle was cheaper then the 1st because I got more back from medicare.  If you've reached your levi it will be cheaper for you.  In the clinic they have a good sheet with the costs & out of pockets so they'll have the detail :-)

If you have any questions or I haven' t answered enough, please let me know and I'm happy to provide more info to you.  I go for egg collection on friday so I'm bloated and uncomfortable at the moment but excited that it's almost finished and I'm praying for a BFP :-)

Good luck and let me know how you go!

Hi Mika - just had to let you know when i heard of your pre op tears that is also my MO - last time i had collection i was a complete bawling mess, it came from nowhere and im not one to cry much but i had no control whatsoever!  Just to make it worse i knew half the staff as i used to work there, one of them even came up to me and said "are you whinging again?" i laughed but the tears kept coming!  I've heard this is not that uncommon- good luck for fri and everyone else going in this week and  if you cry you cry....it can be a good stress relief so they say.

Happy to hear your news Lozz, well done, keeping us all hopefull!

Lozz -- congrats on the BFP!  That's fantastic!!!

Andie -- i feel the same with the bloating and uncomfortable side of things but i'm so happy because they can see both of my ovaries working this time so i feel a lot more positive.  they've decided i should wait till friday for the egg collection but i have a good feeling about friday so i'm happy.  i was knocked out too...i just bawled my eyes out till they knocked me out.  don't know why but laying on the table waiting for them just sets me off!  anyway, i'm feeling good.  let me know how you go!

All -- hope you're all doing well

Hello everyone!  I hope you're all having a great long weekend.  I can't sleep tonight and I'm guessing it's because I'm drawing closer to the egg retrieval and feel like a bloated whale right now!

Nic -- thanks for the feedback. I know I have to try to be positive during this cycle but it's part of my natural instinct to plan for the worse (I work in risk management, and contingency planning hmmmm! )

janey -- welcome on board to the forum

marty -- good luck on next one

scubalou & lozz-- good luck . I've got everything crossed for you guys!

chuckie --  all good so far...that's great!

andie -- wow, looks like we're on the same road . I have my scan today and hopefully the egg collection wednesday.  I can't work out if I'm excited or worried or what (probably why I'm awake right now).  The egg collectoin process just makes me cry...literally!  I was laying on the table and just couldn't stop crying last time.  I hope I'm not a whimp and bare up a bit better this time.

Good luck everyone!

Hi All,

I am back from holidays, which was very relaxing. So, much has certainly hapepend in the last couple of weeks. Good stories and no so good. Best of luck to all who have received goods and hear heartbeats. Hang in for those still trying.

I thought I was going to start y 2nd cycle of IVF next month(MAY) but after coming back from holidays I was able to start straight. I had my ultrasound Wed just gone. I have 8 focillies and I have another one tomorrow (Monday). If, all goes well I will have my egg collection on  Wednesday. I am trying to remain positive this time round. I had 8 eggs collect last time with 2 being fertilised. Unfortunally, neither of these worked when transfered back.

Will keep you posted on the progress of my 2nd cycle.

Take  care everybody, and enjoy the rest of the long weekend.

Andie.

Hi everyone, Thanks for your well wishes!!

We have decided to bring our Beta forward to Monday, because I didn't want to get bad news (if that is the way it goes) whilst working!

I have sneakily been POAS's since Wednesday, to see if the Pregny from Sunday night is out of my system. Sunday was 9DPO, and Today is 15DPO and all Poas's have come up positive straightaway - today is the darkest.

But I know POAS's & Pregnyl are both very EVIL!!

Will keep poasing as addicted now, and keep everything crossed that our last cycle has worked !

Sorry it's all about me - my brains doing kartwheels at the moment.

Janey, glad to hear your story

Gidget, congratulations and good luck. I can understand that you were in shock.

Marty, we are both at it again, I am doing ICSI again and feel a bit more resilient this time. I have also started to see the available counsellors at the clinic. I recommend this to help deal with how we are all feeling. Good luck with your frozen tfr.

Hi Ladies,

Despite starting IVF in Jan this year, I have only just joined this forum and now I realise I should have done it at the start. I guess I thought something positive woud happen quicker. We have been through two ICSI cycles both with BFN and one frozen embryo that did not survive the freezing process. Up until this cycle was confirmed a BFN I was convinced that I did not want to continue, however I just can't seem to make the decision to stop. So we are doing another cycle straight up. I don't think I could take a break because it is the uncertainty and waiting that I find the hardest. I wish you all the best of luck and positive vibes to you all. I look forward to hearing positive news from all of you.

GOOD LUCK

Just quickly popping in to say hello and let you know that I am thinking and praying for all of you. I haven't got any results from the sonohistogran and BT yet so trying to take a break from the IVF bandwagon until next month?

Good luck to those transferring and testing. Positive thoughts and vibes.

Hi there,

Just thought I would introduce myself. I am not new to this stuff - but am new to IVF Australia. Been at this since end 2008. 2 OIIUI's, 1 cancelled long ICSI, 2 short cycle ICSI's (no eggs), 3 long ICSI's BFNs. We are trying for our second child - our gorgeous girl is nearly 4 and came to us after 18 months of trying. Nearing ET for our 9th cycle. I know what you all mean by when is enough .. enough!! ?? It's very difficult and I feel as though I am running quickly out of steam but we have made sacrifices so that I can take this year off work so I will keep at it till the end of this year (if I can make it) - then off to Adoption. That is, of course, unless this actually works! Never know......

Good luck everyone and looking forward to talking with you on this forum.

Janey

Hi Everyone,

Nic, hope you are able to relax & feel refreshed during & after this month off. I think it's one of those times where only you will know when is right for you. Hopefully you will score a BFP next cycle, so wont have to make that decision!

Lozz, good luck for Tuesday! We are all desperately hoping you receive a BFP this time.

Hali, glad to hear your ultrasound went well, it's such a relief to have that confirmation isn't it.

Loulou, hope today's FET went well & you are stretched out with your feet up relaxing?!

Gidget, how was your day? Did you have your ultrasound today?

Take care everyone, hope you are all well     xo

Hi MIKA,

I know where you are coming from when you said' will you find the strength to decided when is enough" I am at that point know and I have only done 2 IUI's, when do you decided when is enough, emotionally and financially. I am not at that point yet to decide, but when you are sometimes so consumed by it all, can we be strong enough to make that decision!! honestly i dont know, we have all given our best for a family and to decide to stop with IVF is like giving up the hope. I guess you will know when you will get to that point...no one can say when, only you will know that! and it maybe that for now it maybe time to rest, but maybe in a years time you could try again! all i can suggest it take deep breaths and put one foot infront of the other and live life through this journey as best you can!!

Hi,

Nic: With IVF/ICSI cycles the drugs will be much the same, the main difference is the Egg Pick-Up under General Anaesthetic. Afterwards you may feel some cramping, bleeding & nauceous. Then it's on to daily updates on eggs/fertilisation results & embie progress, and the best bit - transfer. Then ofcourse the same horrible 2ww. Goodluck!

Rainbow: Good to hear everything is going well, and thank you for sharing some positive miracles!

Lou: Goodluck for your FET! RE: 31 days? Are you OV'ing on day 14 or a little later? Also my Beta for this cycle is day 32 - what are they trying to do to me - kill me!!!!!!!!

Mbla: Sorry to hear of your -tve, best of luck with a donor, I hope you are soaring to the top of the list! My husband too wanted to change to donor sperm after 9 failed cycles, at this stage we are going to pursue Adoption (ofcourse after the outcome of this cycle).

Jb: ((HUGS)) look after yourself.

AFM: The dreaded BETA is scheduled for Tuesday (day 32!!!) - not happy about waiting that long. May go in on Friday, just see how I am feeling. I have very mixed feelings about this cycle, being our last and how much I wish for it to work..........

just a very quick reply to mika re acupuncture - I go to a lovely girl at Peakhurst Chinese medicine in Park st Peakhurst as she specialises in IVF / fertility. she knows all the drugs, cycle types, jargon etc. her name is Emma. Google for her number. Peakhurst is not too far from Kogarah  - closest I know of! Hope it helps.

Hi everyone - nice words about your work colleagues rainbow, it is lovely to hear stories like that ... I prefer to hear those stories to all those ones about people getting pregnant at the drop of a hat!

So sorry about your cycles this time mbla and jb, hope that you can take some time out for yourselves.  It's a horrible feeling when AF comes before you even get to the BT.  BTW, what day of your cycle was your BT? I noticed that this cycle and for my last FET cycle, my BT was scheduled for Day 31 even though I have a 28 day cycle.  It's ages since I did a fresh transfer, but I had thought that BT was around Day 28 (providing you have a regular cycle)... but now I can't remember! Any thoughts anyone?

Mel - glad your sonohistogram wasn't too awful.  How long before you get your BT results? My results on the natural killer cells showed nothing out of the ordinary.

AFM - having my FET on wednesday and I'm actually kind of excited about it.  I wasn't really excited last FET cycle - more worried that the embies wouldn't survive the thaw, which has happended in the past.   We have one good follicle too, on the ultrasound - my husband was around so we've tried that option too, for good measure ... It was so much easier having an ultrasound with 1 follicle, as opposed to any number greater than 10!  Hope everyone's doing well out there wherever you are at right now in your cycles ... this is all so punishing at times, so don't forget how well you are doing, just keeping it all together. ... and those times when we are totally not together!

Hi Everyone,

hope you all had a good weekend.

Hali, how'd you go today? Are you on pessaries or any other medication still?

Meli, so relieved your sonohistogram wasn't as bad as you were expecting. Darn frustrating you have a good follicle & an absent husband! So many times one of us would be away for work when I might have been ovulating (on those occasions when I did actually ovulate, that is!)
Symptoms to date include breast swelling & tenderness, almost daily dose of hiccups, gross taste in my mouth and you know when you feel like inside your mouth is sweating & you think you might be sick? This is worst at night, most nights I hop into bed, only to lie there thinking about getting up to be ill. I haven't actually been sick yet, thank God. Having done way more than my fair share of throwing up a few years ago I do not wish to be that sick.....though am so lucky to have received a BFP I'll take whatever side effects I get & be happy to have them!

mbla, thanks for your kind words. Best of luck with finding a donor. Is there a long wait for donor sperm?

jb, sorry to hear your BFN. Hope you are able to relax and enjoy your 'me' time, hopefully you & hubby will be able to go away somewhere nice. Keep in touch.

Andie, you back from holidays yet? How's things?

On a positive note, I have just found out two girls I know through work are pregnant - both have had years of trouble & its been a very long, hard, and expensive road for them both. Thought I would share that as it may spread some hope?

Hi mbla, I've been wondering how you were going.  So sorry to hear your BFN.  I got exactly the same result too this cycle (2 eggs, 1 fertilised, day 3 transfer, BFN).  Good to hear you still have some options re: donor sperm.  I wish you and DH all the very best with your future cycles.

AFM - AF arrived yesterday and yet I still went for BT this morning cos I know the clinic like to close out each cycle that way.  I think I knew in my heart & gut this cycle wasn't the "one" on the day of transfer, though hubby & I tried to stay so positive about it.  We are taking an indefinite break from IVF for now.  I'm pretty sure my PCOS is out of whack right now so gonna take some "me" time to get it rectified.

Wishing all you lovely ladies all the best in where ever in your cycle you may be.  Good luck to those testing soon - sending some good vibes your way.  To the mums-to-be - looking forward to hearing more great news from you guys.

Jo xoxo

Good morning all

There has been a lot happening

Gidget and Rainbow: congrats i'm so very happy for the both of u

Good luck to everyone at the stages u are at.

Well for me i got a BFN, felt frustrated, angry and said"why me", as i know alot of u have felt the same way at some point.  I only got 2 eggs retrieved and only 1 fertilised and so that meant a day 3 ET.  My DH and i are now looking at donor sperm,  to my surprise was my DH suggestion so, we put ourselves on the list 1 year ago.  I have a appointment with our FS in May and will discuss more.

Good luck again to everyone

hello!

i was just wondering if anyone new of a good accupunture clinic to go to in the kogorah region?  while i know there's a lot of people in the area who do it, i'd really love to find someone who deals with other women using ivf.

hope you're all well.

cheers

hi all,

Good luck to all testing this week. Hope we have some more BFP's on this thread!

Lozz- good luck with your BT this week

Hali & Gidget - looking forward to hearing about your U/S this week

Rainbow - How are you feeling? Any symptoms yet? You might be one of those lucky ones and have no symptoms at all.

Bee - hope you are well and you enjoyed your birthday weekend

AFM - I had the sonohistogram on Friday. It wasn't as bad as I thought  more uncomfortable but I did have some cramping throughout the procedure and a bit of bleeding for the day. No official results from either the sonohistogram or the BT but unofficially my results from the sonohistogram look "normal" (whatever that means). She said everything looked like it should and that I have a 20mm follicle as well. If only hubby was here this week we might have a chance to conceive naturally lol.

Hi Everyone,

Melimoo, mmm...maybe you're right & all husbands have a manual that tells them the right things to say (eg- no your butt does not look big; rather have you etc)  lol
When we were chatting I mentioned that I felt it was a bigger deal for me than him & he said "I know sweet, but that is because unlike you, I am not consumed by having children"  I never thought I was consumed by starting a family, but obviously my husband did!

Mika, so glad you said a sonohistogram is not so bad, I was getting myself all nervous for Melimoo & worrying how dreadful it was going to be for her (so nervous I still haven't looked it up, been taking the ignorance is bliss path instead!)
Where are you up to in your cycle now?

Gidget / Hali, enjoy your ultrasounds!
Hali, the testing is optional, my nurse just brought it up in conversation. I think in deciding whether to undergo any testing you need to decide whether you would act on any information you receive. eg- if the test shows you have an increased risk of downs syndrome what will you do? stress about it for the rest of the pregnancy or do something drastic etc.
At this stage I think my husband and I have pretty much decided not to undergo any abnormality testing......what will be will be. That said, there is time to change our minds and have a test performed.
It really is a decision that only the 2 of you can make - get info from your doctor or nurse, but ultimately only you will know what's right for you.
I think the tests only indicate an increased risk, and aren't actually a definite guide, but I could be wrong there?

As for how I'm feeling.....fine really, no different to usual. Am 8 weeks today. I've given myself a few weeks off from the gym, so maybe put on a pound or two (from laziness and too many Easter eggs, no other reason!).

Hope everyone else is well and looking after themselves.

Positive vibes to all    xo

RAINBOW....so good to hear that everything is going well! We cannot wait for our ultrasound on monday...like you said it will make it feel more real i suppose. Im not sure about that abnormalities test you mentioned? is that something necessary? i have alot of questions for the doc on monday so ill add it to my list.

I hope everyone else is doing well too.

Hi Melimoo -- Don't worry! :-) I had a sonohistogram.  Don't worry about it too much.  I thought it would be horrible but it turned out not to be too bad.  As hard as it is to do, just try to let your mind wander to something else so you can relax (that helps!).  It was pretty quick too and not too uncomfortable -- better then when they were trying to probe to see how my follies were doing on one of my ovaries (now that was pain!)  Good luck!

hi Rainbow,

I have spoken to him about it and he said the same thing as your hubby (must be a standard line from their manual lol). I am not sure he realises how much of a big issue it is for me though. Anyway onwards and upwards!

On a different note...surely the sonohistogram won't be that bad..so I keep telling myself lol! Be good to get it over and done with.

Will let you know how it goes!!!!!!!!!

Hi Everyone!

Loulou, good luck with FET, hope all goes smoothly.

Lozz, glad today's transfer & acupuncture went well, hope you are now kicking back with your feet up?! Look forward to reading your BFP in a couple weeks!

Meli, you brought tears to my eyes. I can sort of understand your feelings about your husband potentially missing out on being a dad. Have you talked to him about this?
When we thought I could never have kids I talked to my husband about it, and he said he would rather have me & be childless than not have me etc. (very good answer I thought!) Maybe your husband feels the same way?
Glad you feel my updates give you hope, I wish we were all posting BFP's and sharing that part of the journey together.
I have been too frightened to google sonohistogram.....I'm a bit scared for you already. Will say extra prayers that it is not half as bad as it sounds & that the results are good.

Hope everyone is well and looking after themselves   xo

Hi Everyone!!

Just back from Transfer and before & after Acupuncture (wow! a bit to cram in, but very relaxed now). We have an Expanding Blast Grade A & Early Blast Grade B onboard. Not sure if our other 2 will make it to freeze, because they are a day behind. So as this is our last, I am a little anxious but pretty much excited to enjoy the time with our embies until BETA.

I am actually taking our embies to the Ballet at the Opera House, so if thats not a peaceful environment, I don't know what is!

Loulou, Goodluck with your FET cycle, and great that you were abloe to get going again sooner than you had thought!

Meli, I am sure you felt very drained from all the blood being sucked. I remember having 15 at the beginning of IVF. I think I am a little too scared to look up the Sonohistogram - sounds a litttle invasive or something? It is never easy seeing friends & their babies and the bonds parents share with their babies. We all deserve it so much, and we certainly are giving ourselves wholey for this opportunity. Goodluck xo

Rainbow, Great news on seeing your precious babies heartbeat. And all the best Gidget & Hali!

Not sure why so much blood. Guess they testing me for everything. Oh forgot - my acupunturist started me on chinese fertitliy herb tablets today. I haven't taken any yet as I want to ring the clinic tomorrow. Is anyone else taking these??

Crikey Meli - I kind of I wish I hadn't googled that Sonohistogram either! All the best for that, hope that it isn't too uncomfortable.   Why so much blood taken?

Rainbow - that must be really exciting to see that up on the screen! What an totally amazing feeling that must be. And Gidget and Hali - how are you coming along?  Good luck with transfer tomorrow Lozz... it is really nice to hear about BFPs and positive progress.

AFM - the nurse told me that my killer cells BT came back normal, so that's ticked off (they told us 5-6 weeks for the bloods to be cultured, but the clinic had the results back today after I had the test on 1st April).  I had my Day 10 BT today to start unmedicated FET, so probably will be having a transfer mid-next sometime.... naturally work has kicked off at a crazy pace, right when I am trying to slow down / fit lots of early-morning BT appts on the way to work, and also acupuncture appts. Arrghhhh...

I am so excited for you Rainbow. I am glad your embie is doing what it is suppose to! I can't wait for your updates as it gives me hope too.

AFM - I had 13 vials of my blood collected today. Not sure there is any left lol! Apparently it takes approx 6 weeks for some of the test results to come back - a long wait...Sonohistogram Friday! Not looking forward to this. I should never have googled it lol. Has anyone ever had one of these???

On a negative note - I went to visit a friend who had a bubba boy on Sunday. My friend does not know we are having difficulty with TTC and was telling me about how thrilled her hubby is to have a baby and how he keeps looking at him etc etc. It suddenly hit me that my hubby might not have this opportunity because of me. i am heartbroken!!  I am trying to be positive but feel so guilty. I haven't mentioned this to anyone else but thought some of you ladies may understand and needed to get it off my chest (soz to put a downer on your good news Rainbow).

Hope everyone else is ok.

Hi Hali,

ultrasound went well, thanks. The sonographer said at the start that we would only be able to see a 'blob, with a heart beat'. That's pretty much about all we saw too! The embryo is approx 9 - 10mm and is about 8cm deep inside the uterus, so not the easiest thing to see. That said, we could clearly see a 'blob' and it looked as though it was flickering or quivering or vibrating. Which is excellent, as that was the heartbeat. Approx 153 beats per minute, which is perfectly healthy and normal for 7 weeks.
The words the sonographer used were "this looks as it should, right size & number of heartbeats, it looks viable" Wow, encouraging, confidence building words!

I spoke to the nurse at IVFA today & she had received the report etc and was quite happy with everything, which made me feel quite relieved, though yes I know there's still a long way to go yet & the next 6 weeks or so are important, especially when coming off medication & pessaries.

You have your ultrasound this Monday coming don't you?
Make sure you let us know how it goes, it is quite exciting to see that there really is a baby there, made it feel real, like I could believe it was truly happening etc.

Have you given any thought to other tests, such as an amniocentesis, for abnormalities? I had a conversation with my nurse today about it all, but am not sure whether I will undergo any testing..... even though I am now 35 my embryo age is only 27, so nice & young! What are your thoughts?

Take care everyone.

Melimoo, thinking of you this week when having your testing.

Bee, how was your birthday party?

Lozz - Hope your transfer goes well tomorrow, will get thinking of you.

AFM had my FS Appointment today and we are getting a blood test done next week in Sydney to check for the Natrual Killer Cells. Also, Dave is getting a Sperm fragmentation done and myself another lot of blood tests to check for Lupas, etc again. Have had the Lupus, etc  test done before by FS said wouldn't hurt just to check it again. lol suits me fine just want find an answer to perhaps why these embies aren't sticking. Only bugga is have to put this cycle on hold and start again once we get the results back. Fingers crossed that the results may find an answer for us Not going back to FS until the 18th of next month and we will go from there (gosh seems like forever until I find out all the results).

Thanks Rainbow. I'm ok! Had my two "why me days" and just keeping busy.

There is lots going on. Too much to answer individually. Good luck to all wherever you are up to in your cycles. I am saying lots of prayers for all of you. Thanks for all your support xxx

PS - perhaps we can start another list of where everyone is up to and then everyone can keep adding their dates

Hi Everyone,

OMG, I had over 35 email messages saying new posts, so much to catch up on after just a few days!

Melimoo, so sad to hear your news. Words are inadequate at a time like this, but know we are all thinking of you, sending you love & support. Hope your tests discover something that can be rectified & you enjoy having a month off from the treatment.

JB, hope you are feeling well post transfer! We will be thinking of you on the 19th! Glad to hear your brother-in-law apologised, they're a breed of their own, in-laws lol. I'm very lucky, I get along extremely well with all mine, mind you we haven't told any of them anything about this journey.....and wont for a little while yet!

Diana, best of luck for your new cycle.

Gidget, Congratulations, that is so very exciting!

Loulou, good luck for FET next week.

Lozz, 6 eggs, way to go! Good luck for transfer, I really hope this cycle is 'the one'!

Take care everyone, hope you all have a lovely weekend, extra hugs to you Meli.

Hi everyone!!

Just home from EPU and really happy with our result of 6 eggs (yay)! As per usual, can't wait for the daily updates from the lab and transfer on Wednesday (if all goes to plan).

Hi everyone - haven't been on for a while, and so much has been happening! Firstly Mel - I'm so very sorry about the BFN.  I'm kind of in that same boat of trying all those tests - sort of good, because it might answer some questions as to why those great little embies don't want to hang around, and also kind of scary - just what will be revealed???!!  You're so generous with putting out the good vibes for everyone, def sending loads back to you.

I think I'm a bit behind on everyone's progress but congratulations to all those BFPs, and fingers crossed for post-transferees.  Diana - I did my 1st couple of cycles on the Coast (nurses are just lovely there). I had trouble finding an acupuncturist on the Coast but not long before I left to return to Sydney, my Sydney naturopath told me about a guy she knew at East Gosford, I think his name was Tim.  I didn't see him myself though.  I can, however, recommend a great waxer - took me 4 years on the Coast to find her, and boy do I miss her! Let me know if you're interested...!

With my 1st cycle, I did blastos but I had my last lot frozen at Day 3, as I had complications after the egg retrieval last year and the the FS didn't want to take the risk of there being no embies at all, after all that trouble (trouble being a week in hospital from the complications).   Someone told me that in some Euro country (Sweden? Switzerland?) that Day 3 maximum is the law.  And I'll just add - a close friend of mine had a gorgeous IVF son, and they had 1 embryo left - decided to give it a go, and guess what - identical twins!!  You just never know what might happen.  I'm a bit scared of more than 1 per transfer, based on the risk of complications for muliples. My FS told me that they think there might possibly be something in the culture that predisposes it to cleave into identicals.

Hope everyone had a lovely Easter - another public holiday in a couple of weeks also to look forward to!  AFM - I'm starting BTs for next FET next week. Another roll of the dice...

hi all,

Congrats Gidget. I am sooo happy for you. Relax and enjoy the next couple of weeks, months nd years with your littlie.

AFM - Two days are up and I am back in the land of the living. I am finding it a little harder this time but have decided to look ahead to the next cycle and keep busy. I had a phone call from my FS last night (which helped) and we have decided to take a break this month  to do further testing. Next week I will be going for a BT and U/S to check a number of things - antibodies, endometrium, hormones etc. The FS is really not sure why the embies are not sticking as he said everything has been going along nicely - good cycles, levels high enough, lots of embies, good quality etc etc but they just do not want to stick. They are going to monitor my levels more closely after the next transfer.

Thanks for all the support ladies. It really does make a difference.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Gidget - well done, congratulations!!!!  Hope you're feeling well, now sit back and enjoy the pregnancy ride!

Diana & mika - we didn't have a choice regarding the Day 3 transfer.  Because we only had 2 mature eggs at collection, with one fertilising successfully, FS decided to transfer earlier than blastocyst just in case we didn't have an embie by the time Day 5 came around.

The previous FS/clinic I went to (prior to IVFA) regularly did Day 3 transfers rather than Day 5 - each clinic has their own philosophy on when to transfer.  A friend's FS in the Sutherland Shire regularly transferred at Day 2 and my friend got both her gorgeous girls that way.

No matter how many embies you have, how well they progress, how far along they are at transfer (blasto vs Day 2/3), fresh vs frozen - it's when that little embie gets transferred into your uterus that really matters.  Blasto's though have shown better implantation rates than younger embryos.

Diana - do a google search on 'fertility acupuncture central coast'.  There are a couple of ones up your way, but you probably want to make sure they definitely do the IVF support style program not just normal fertility acupuncture - as there are certain times to get acupuncture done during different stages during an IVF cycle.

Bee - before I forget - have a great birthday this weekend!

AFM - Day 2 post transfer and feeling okay.  Getting lots of little cramps pains which I've never experienced before so not sure what that's about.  Starting Clexane tonight - just sneaked a peek at the needle and I'm having a mini stress out.  I'm good at taking needles but mika's right this needle is bigger than all the rest!

Unfortunately, my mother-in-law (whom I love) didn't quite understand what I meant when I said 'please keep our IVF journey under your hat for now' and joyfully blurted out that we were doing IVF again on Facebook.  So now many of our joint friends know - so much for doing this cycle inconspicuously.  I hadn't told my two best friends I was doing IVF again - but now they know.  Oh well!!!!  God love mother-in-laws!

Night, night all!  I am off to take a little 'teaspoon of concrete' before I do the Clexane needle .

Jo xoxo
