Ovulation Induction (OI)

Ovulation Induction is used when a woman is either producing low levels of hormones that enable her to conceive, or is not ovulating at all. Treatment involves taking hormone stimulating medication (normally oral) to maximise the chance of conception.

Intra-uterine Insemination is used when the woman’s fallopian tubes are healthy and more complex treatments are not appropriate. Treatment involves inserting the male partner’s concentrated semen through the neck of the womb and into the uterus close to the time of ovulation. This technique may be used with ‘natural timed intercourse’ or in combination with hormone-stimulating medication.

This procedure involves close monitoring via blood tests and ultrasounds to assess the development of follicles and potential eggs.
