Dr Gavin Sacks

Dr Gavin Sacks is a fertility specialist and co-director of the IVFAustralia Miscarriage Programme. He qualified in the UK from the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford and received a PhD in reproductive immunology at the University of Oxford.  He completed training in reproductive medicine in Sydney and London (UK equivalent of CREI) and moved to Sydney in 2005 having obtained fellowship of both the UK and Australian and New Zealand Royal Colleges of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

Dr Sacks has particular interests in unexplained infertility, repeated IVF failure and miscarriage, and Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis.  He is a strong advocate of exploring strategies to achieve a family that are both effective and holistic.  He has pioneered research in reproductive immunology (including Natural Killer cell testing) and has initiated a large study on the role of acupuncture in IVF and miscarriage.

As a conjoint senior lecturer at UNSW and Staff Specialist at St George Hospital, Dr Sacks teaches and examines for the Bachelor of Medicine and Master of Reproductive Medicine degrees, supervises research, and lectures regularly at national and international meetings. He has over 30 publications to date.

He investigates and manages all aspects of both male and female infertility and maintains a private obstetric practice as a Visiting Medical Officer at Prince of Wales and St George Private Hospitals. This enables him to provide continuity of care for many of his patients from fertility investigation through to childbirth.

Dr Sacks consults from IVFAustralia Bondi Junction, Kogarah and City clinics.
