Current Research

Following is a summary of the ongoing research projects being undertaken by IVFAustralia:

  • A prospective, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial on the effect of metformin on in-vitro fertilisation outcomes in women with polycystic ovary syndrome
  • Parental age, mode of conception and transition to parenthood; a study of the biological, psychological and social consequences of delayed parenthood
  • A prospective randomized controlled trial assessing recombinant LH supplement in patients with a relative reduction in LH levels during IVF/ICSI treatment
  • Serum progesterone levels at the time of egg collection during in-vitro fertilisation in cycles not complicated by premature luteinisation
  • Does a normal spindle in the oocyte predict subsequent blastocyst development and implementation
  • Metabolomic analysis of spare culture medium from human embryos to predict reproductive potential
  • In vitro maturation of human oocytes and glutathione synthesis
  • Acupuncture and reproductive health outcomes.  Building evidence in an integrated care setting. A study to examine the evidence of an immune response from acupuncture when administered on the day of embryo transfer
  • The effect of the stage of embryo development on day five on subsequent pregnancy outcome parameters
  • Investigation of the interaction between endometrial surgery and subsequent IVF response
  • Infertility, body weight, eating and exercise disorders
  • Risk factors for recurrent pregnancy loss and live birth outcomes
  • Ultrasound, Polycystic Ovaries and IVF ICSI outcomes
